Here at the Bulls Foundation, we are always proud to celebrate the heritage of rugby league in Bradford and at yesterday’s game against Rochdale Hornets, we were gifted a unique piece of history to cherish.
Our Chairman, Warren Evans, was on hand to pick up a framed photograph of Albert James “Buck” Sharratt, a Challenge Cup winner for Bradford back in 1906. Warren was presented with the framed photograph as well as memorabilia from Buck Sharratt’s playing career.
“I didn’t want these things to be lost and felt that a safe home for the family’s heirlooms was the Heritage section of the Bull’s Foundation” said Albert Sharratt, 78, son of Buck.
Foundation Chairman, Warren Evans, said, “We are delighted to be the custodians of this collection and are pleased that Mr Sharratt donated this important part of the Club’s history to the Foundation”.
Buck Sharratt played in the Forwards for Bradford from the early Northern Union days from 1900 and was a team member until 1910. During his time at the Club he was a member of the 1903/04 Yorkshire Northern Union Cup and the 1906 Challenge Cup winning teams.
Mr Sharratt, together with his sister Audrey Mann, is shown below presenting Warren Evans with his father’s 1902/03 cap and a framed photograph of the 1906 Cup winning team at today’s game against Rochdale Hornets at the Provident Stadium, Odsal.
