Oakbank School have picked up a Bradford School Cup double, taking both the Year 7 and Year 8 titles – but not without a fight. Their first year squad was forced into a replay by St Bede’s & St Joseph’s before emerging victorious 30-26 to pick up the John Bateman Cup.
Their Year 8s had it a little easier, putting 32 unanswered points past Buttershaw Academy in the Elliot Whitehead Cup Final.
Buttershaw might have lost at Year 8, but their Year 9s managed to pick up the Leon Pryce Cup title, edging out St Bede’s & St Joseph’s 36-20 at Odsal Stadium.
In the final match, the Year 10 Brian Noble Cup, Beckfoot Thornton ran out comfortable winners over Appleton.
The trophies are all named after rugby league legends from Bradford and if the standard on display was anything to go by, there are a few names yet to come in the storied history of the town.
The Bulls Foundation would like to thank all those who participated, from players and coaches to schools and teachers, Foundation staff, groundsmen and referees.
We will return in September for another great season of Schools rugby league in Bradford.
