Fearnley’s difficult start

Frederick Newstead Fearnley joined Bradford Northern as club secretary just before the outbreak of the First World War. He came with a strong reputation having previously been secretary of Broughton Rangers considered to be one of the most successful Northern Union clubs at the time. One new Birch Lane Heroes article tells his story and another gives details of the start of the 1916/17 season.
