Young rugby league players from around Bradford & Keighley came together over the weekend of August 15th and 16th to participate in the England Talent Pathway (ETP) training camp at Tong playing fields.
Ranging from Under 12s to Under 15s, the Bulls Foundation staff were happy to welcome some familiar faces from previous training get-togethers as well as to meet some new ones for their first taste of ETP training.
Bulls head coach Geoff Toovey and Head of Development John Bastian were keen spectators as the boys began the first day of training – and they were not disappointed with what they saw. The players showcased their skill and commitment to the game through, with no quarter asked from anyone on the field.
The intensity never dropped throughout the weekend, with the players clearly inspired by enjoying the opportunity to train in the same facilities as their Bradford Bulls heroes, who also use Tong as their base.
England Talent Pathway has had many success stories already, despite still being a relatively new initiative from the RFL. The likes of Remy Lewis and Jack Smith made names for themselves while developing on the Pathway last year, resulting in them securing themselves a place in the Bulls under 16’s squad for the current 2017 season. With Bulls scouts closely observing the talented current crop of ETP participants, it is expected many will progress to the next level.
Block 3 of ETP was a great success down to the commitment of the Bulls Foundation coaches and volunteers as well as the tremendous attitude from all the lads who took part with their desire to learn and improve.
The final block of the year of England Talent Pathway (Block 4) will be taking place at Tong on
Tuesday 24th October from 11:00 – 15:30 and Wednesday 25th October 13:00 – 15:30 at a price of £1 per day. This is for Under 12’s, 13’s, 14’s and 15’s.
